A Shareholder in the Firm, Mary Pat Hagan received her undergraduate degree from Duke University and her law degree, cum laude, from Boston University School of Law. Mary Pat has over ten years of experience counseling corporations and other employers in all aspects of employment law and litigation. Prior to joining the Firm, Mary Pat practiced employment law and litigation with Gravel and Shea in Burlington, Vermont, and, earlier in her career, with Edwards & Angell LLP in Boston, Massachusetts and Providence, Rhode Island. Mary Pat also served as Corporate Employment Counsel to Liberty Mutual Insurance Group.
Mary Pat has extensive experience advising multi-state employers in all aspects of employment law and personnel matters. She has assisted numerous clients in developing workplace policies, conducting investigations into employee allegations of misconduct, and drafting employment agreements and other personnel-related documentation. Mary Pat has also presented numerous training seminars tailored to clients' specific human resource and management needs.
In addition, Mary Pat has successfully represented a variety of employers against claims of harassment, discrimination, retaliation and wage-hour violations in state and federal agencies and courts across the country. Mary Pat has litigated numerous cases, including ERISA matters and disputes involving confidentiality and non-competition agreements, in both state and federal court. Mary Pat believes proactive advice and counseling significantly reduce the risk of employment-related litigation; however, in those instances when litigation is appropriate, she aggressively and efficiently represents her clients.
Mary Pat is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont.
